Washington DC is a city that feels so familiar even when never visited before, thanks to Hollywood and its political and military themed productions. Seeing the real thing up close convinces you that you’re part of a movie set and who’s to blame you when iconic landmarks like the White House, the Washington Monument, the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon are scattered around. And while the presence of government offices is widespread throughout the District, its collection of marbled monuments and memorials is equally as extensive, all contributing towards the American narrative. Today Washington DC is the capital of the world’s most powerful country. Will it still be the case tomorrow though?
